While rumors of the LG Nexus seem to be getting all the attention these days, Samsung hopes to make a big splash tomorrow with the unveiling of the Samsung Galaxy S III Mini. The event is schedule to take place on October 11th in Frankfurt, Germany. According to Samsung Mobile’s JK Shin, there is significant demand “in Europe” for a smaller version of its flagship phone.
Up until now, speculation suggested that the Samsung Galaxy S III Mini would feature most of the high-end specs found in the current S III, but new details revealed by MobileGeeks indicate that Samsung is taking a much cheaper phone and simply labeling it with its Galaxy S branding. While the leaked image of the device suggests it will look very similar to its big brother, specifications of the Samsung Galaxy S III Mini are said to include a 4-inch Super AMOLED 800×480 display, 1Ghz dual-core STE U8420, 1GB of RAM and a 5 megapixel camera. MobileGeeks expects the phone to sell for €399 (roughly $510) when the device goes on sale later this fall.
Honestly, we’re hoping that most of there details turn out to be wrong. Samsung has the opportunity to create an amazing device with a 4-inch display which could outclass the iPhone 5 and beat it on price. If these specs turn out to be true, do you think the Samsung Galaxy S III Mini will be a success?
