Ubuntu Linux running on the Nexus 7 tablet

If Ubuntu being installed on the Samsung Chromebook seemed interesting, this latest bit may be just as exciting. It seems Ubuntu has been installed on the Nexus 7. Though, unlike the Chromebook installation, we have yet to see just how hard (or easy) it will be to do the same on your tablet. What we do have though, is a brief demonstration video of the operating system running.
The video is short, just 21 seconds in length. Still, we are expecting to get more details in the not to distant future. In fact, the complete how-to is expected to be made available later this week. More to the point here, we are expecting to see a bit more once the Ubuntu Developer Summit kicks off in Copenhagen. You see, Mark Shuttleworth, a lead developer of Ubuntu has called the Nexus 7 an ideal reference device and also suggested that developers attending the conference may want to bring a Nexus 7 so they can play.
And for those wondering about the tablet connection. Well, reading into some previous comments from Shuttleworth and we go back to where he mentioned that Ubuntu 13.04 was going to focus on mobile — items such as battery life and memory consumption.
