Every week we cover Android gaming on Wednesday, followed by Top 10 app updates on Friday. Now every Monday (or Tuesday) we will look back and see which ones were the most crowd-pleasing among our audience. Read on for the 10 most popular Android apps from last week among your peers.
For the second week in a row, Omega Status Bar was the most popular app on the site. I gave it a try for a couple of days, but it still has some annoying bugs and I finally turned it off. The developer hasn’t updated the app since last month, so hopefully he will take all the feedback and push out a new release soon.
You guys are so predictable. I have come to learn that any dev can wrack up a ton of downloads if they release a weather widget that features clean design. Weather Eye features “12 of the best weather icon sets available”, so they should have something that matches your style.
IntelliScreen was first spotted in our Android Rookies column and its daily installs spiked to an all time high. This app allows complete handling of the screen timeout and allows you to create individual rules for specific apps. It’s free to try out and a pro version unlocks additional features.
Truecaller claims to offer the “most accurate name and phone number lookup service with Caller ID” and they must be doing something right because they already have 500k installs. We featured this app in our weekly Android Updates column a number of you were intrigued by its features.
Battery Doctor is a free app that can predict battery power availability, adjust settings automatically, log all charging activities, and provide power saving tips. Every Android users out there wishes their batter lasted longer, so we expect apps like this to remain popular for awhile.
Sleep Time was first featured a couple weeks ago, but it continues to have staying power. The app just got an update this weekend and its downloads have shot up to over 100k this month. Their advanced algorithm determines your phase of sleep, and sets off the alarm at the perfect moment, so you will never wake up from a deep sleep feeling groggy again.
There were a ton of new Android games released last week, and somehow Rail Rush managed to claim the top spot in our list. If you were a fan of Temple Run or any of the other endless running games, then you will probably enjoy this title. I did not download it last week, but I’m installing it now to see how it measures up.
Monster Warlord is another Pokemon clone, and maybe that’s why so many people installed it. Gamevil is a top Android developer, so we know their games will always be fun. The early reviews are positive with an average score of 4.6, so check it out if you need a game to dump a lot of hours into.
Fotodanz is a simple app that allows you to create animated photos. You can animate multiple areas of any photo, and create some pretty hilarious effects. Check it out if you are a fan of animated GIFs.
Rounding out the Top 10 is The Price is Right Decades. This game is a must play for any fans of the classic gameshow. It’s not the deepest game, but it features full 3D versions of most of the original games like Plinko, The Big Wheel, and Showcase Showdown. It sells for $0.99, and I was fully satisfied with my purchase.
